QS World University Rankings

The University is rated 66th in world in the 2012 QS World University Rankings, up from 72nd in 2011.

These rankings were derived using a combination of reputational surveys, staff:student ratios, the proportion of international staff and students and research citations.

The University is ranked 13th in the UK, 38th in Europe and 110th in the world according to the 2012-13 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Research Assessment Exercise

The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise confirmed our ranking among the top ten UK research-intensive universities.

  The judges found the University to be a quality, research-led university, and a community with values, confidence, flair and its sleeves rolled-up.
  
• Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2011
  The University came top of the Russell Group and top of the Yorkshire and Humberside region. Our Students' Union remained first in the rankings for the third year running.
• National Student Survey 2012
  The University came top in the region and fourth in the Russell Group, maintaining an overall satisfaction score of 90 per cent for the second year running. Our Students' Union was rated the best in Britain.
