Stonehenge research homepage

With over 21 million annual visits from more than 220 countries worldwide, our homepage is a key method for communicating and engaging with a wide external audience including potential students, partners and members of our community.

Selection criteria

Our aim is that each homepage is based on part of the University's vision, University Executive Board priorities or our core themes.

To be considered for inclusion on the homepage, a feature should support one or more of the following criteria:

Vision and mission

  • Our motto: what we stand for - 'to discover and understand the cause of things'
  • Our impact: the difference we want to make - 'to improve the world'

University Executive Board priorities

  • Growth of PGR student numbers and clarification of the importance of PGR
  • Internationalisation of our curricula and student experience
  • Becoming/acting as a global organisation
  • Equality and diversity
  • Embedding the concepts of the Sheffield Graduate and Sheffield Academic
  • Research that demonstrates impact on society, to tie up with the criteria for the REF research evaluation and increase research income
  • The development of academic ambitions through international links and partnerships
  • Specific projects of mutual benefit for the city and region
  • Alumni targets
  • Recruitment targets

Themes

  • Major faculty-specific projects
  • Our cross-cutting themes: Digital world, Healthcare and Energy

Please note: the criteria list has been split into three sub-groups on this page. Your story may only need to meet one of the criteria from any of the three sub-groups, although the more criteria it meets then the greater the chance it will be selected.
