Early or late arrivals 2013

Academic studies will commence on or around 29 September, but the majority of students will arrive in time for Intro Week on either 21 or 22 September (you will be told in your contract which date you’ll need to arrive).

Intro week provides you the opportunity to settle into the University, find your way around a new city and meet new friends in your community. However, we understand that previous plans, flight bookings and possible VISA delays can all have an impact on when you arrive.

If you are taking part in either the International Orientation Programme, or the Discovery Week Programme, then early arrival will be organised as part of these. To find out more about arriving early for one of our programmes, please visit:

Early Arrivals

If you are not taking part in either programme, but you still need to arrive early, we have a very limited number of rooms available for early arrivals. These places are intended for students who really need to arrive early, so please do not worry about missing out if you are not arriving until Intro Weekend!

If you are allocated a room for early arrival, you will be notified 7 days in advance about whether or not this will be your permanent room. We like to keep early arrivals close together so you’re not on your own for your first few days in Sheffield, so some people may be offered a room in The Ranmoor Village on a temporary basis until you move in to your permanent room.

To apply for an early arrival, up to 3 days earlier than the start of your contract, please complete the “Early arrivals 2013 application form” (available in the right-hand menu) and email it to vacationres@sheffield.ac.uk by 10 am on Friday 30 August 2013. Applications received after this date cannot be processed and you will need to arrange your own accommodation prior to arrival.
