Donate your unwanted items to charity

Bring it, don’t bin it gives you the chance to donate your unwanted items to charity when you’re moving out of University accommodation.

We work with four local charities – St Vincent's Furniture Store, St Luke's Hospice, Shelter and The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) – to ensure that your donations go straight to local homeless and disadvantaged people or help raise money for good causes. Last year’s residents donated over a tonne of unwanted items, and we’re hoping that you can beat that total!

There’ll be nine ‘bring it, don’t bin it’ drop-off points around the residences between Monday 28 May to Sunday 8 July 2012, including at Jonas Court, Carrysbrook Court, Stephenson, Crewe main car park, The Edge, The Ridge, Broad Lane Court, Mappin Court and the Students’ Union main foyer (from Tues 29 May - Sunday 3 June).

What you can donate

  • Bedding, clothing and shoes
  • Cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils
  • Unopened toiletries
  • Books, CDs and DVDs
  • Non-perishable and unopened food

There’ll be a separate drop-off point for mobile phones and electrical items e.g. lamps, stereos, toasted sandwich makers

Remember, all your items should be clean and in good condition.
