Your Residence Contract

The contract process

The accommodation guarantee is subject to the Residence Contract process being met. Failure to do so may result in your accommodation being withdrawn.

To comply with the contract process, you should:

  • Inform the Accommodation Office of any changes to your postal address, email address and other important information
  • Accept your Residence Contract, pay your deposit and set up a payment plan online before the closing date stated in your letter/email

You can view the Terms and Conditions of your contract, as well as an example Residence Contract in the 'Downloads' box at the right hand side of this page.

Contract lengths

All contracts are for 42 weeks, unless otherwise stated. We also have some 51 week contracts available for postgraduates.

Catered accommodation includes a catering allowance for 31 weeks and does not include the Christmas and Easter vacations. Your individual contract will provide you with full details of your exact contract dates.

Deposit

In order to accept your Residence Contract, you are required to pay a £150 accommodation deposit. This is then held as a damage deposit for the length of your contract. Deductions may also be made from the deposit at the end of your contract for additional cleaning requirements.

Rent payment

When you accept your Residence Contract, you will be required to provide the method of payment for your rent. Rent is due in three instalments payable from the start of your contract - not your date of arrival. A small Community contribution will be taken with the first instalment of rent which will give you access to a wide range of events and activities.
