We are pleased to be able to offer numerous studentships to prospective research students.
Note: You only have to apply once for a University Prize Scholarship or a Harry Worthington Scholarship or a Faculty Scholarship or a Departmental Scholarship. You will be considered for all of these with the one application.
University Prize Scholarships
University Prize Scholarships cover the cost of the tuition fees and provide an annual, tax-free maintenance stipend of £16,000 plus a Research Training Support Grant of £2,000, subject to satisfactory progress each year. Application for a prize scholarship is open to UK, EU and international students.

Harry Worthington Scholarships
A Harry Worthington Scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees and provides an annual, tax-free maintenance stipend at the standard UK Research rate (£13,590 in 2012-13). The Scholarships are open to UK, EU and international students.

Faculty Scholarships provide the cost of tuition fees and an annual, tax-free maintenance stipend at the RCUK rate (£13,590 in 2012-13). They are open to UK, EU and international students.

Departmental Scholarships
One Departmental Prize Scholarship which covers full fees and provides maintenance at the RCUK rate (£13,590 in 2012-13) for three years, available to home and overseas students.
Two EPSRC Doctoral Training Account (DTA) awards which provides full fees and maintenance at the RCUK rate (£13,590 in 2012-13) for UK students, or fees only for EU students.
Two Departmental Fee Scholarships which cover full fees for three years, available to home and overseas students.
Three Departmental Partial Fee Scholarships which provide partial fee-waivers for three years, available to home and overseas students.

The Harry Nicholson Postgraduate Research Scholarship for ACSE MSc Graduates
The Harry Nicholson Postgraduate Research Scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees as well as providing an annual, tax-free maintenance stipend of £8,000. It is a scholarship that is specifically open only to currently registered MSc students within the Department.
