Aerospace Engineering Course Structures

In Year 1 all students take the same modules.  At the end of year 1 you will chose to follow either the ‘Aeromechanics’, the ‘Avionic Systems’ or the ‘General’ elective in year 2. This choice will define your study for the remainder of your course.

In year 3, all students continue to follow the elective they pursued in year 2.

In years 3 and 4, students following the Aeromechanics or the Avionic Systems route will follow one of the two streams available in their chosen elective. Students following the General route do not have a choice of stream in years 3 and 4.

At the end of year 2 the performance of all students is reviewed. Students on the MEng course need to attain a grade average of 54.5 (known as the ‘MEng threshold’) in order to remain on the MEng, otherwise they will be required to transfer to the BEng.

Students on the BEng in Aerospace Engineering in years 1 and 2 may be able to transfer to the MEng course at the end of year 2 provided they meet the MEng threshold.
