Undergraduate courses
Welcome to the Undergraduate Course pages of Aerospace Engineering at The University of Sheffield.
We provide a forward-looking approach aimed at educating the future engineering talent that will contribute to meeting the needs of the twenty-first century.
The Aerospace Engineering courses at Sheffield build on more traditional aeronautical engineering courses by covering core basics such as materials, structures, thermodynamics and control, as well as teaching more modern disciplines such as avionics, software integration, communications, satellite and space systems and the use of computer-based tools. These are all essential to the design and operation of today´s aerospace systems and products.
This integrated approach to total systems engineering will give you the academic qualifications and practical experience to succeed in the aerospace profession, as well as in a range of other careers.
At Sheffield we believe that our Aerospace courses should be at the heart of the industry and we work closely with business partners to ensure that our students have the relevant practical and theoretical knowledge to position them as front runners in the job market. This is why our programme was established after consultation with key players in the industry and is regularly updated to reflect changes and needs in aerospace technology. Our partners include organisations such as Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Airbus UK, Boeing, EADS and Qinetiq.
Our Aerospace courses are accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoMMM). The accreditation by these institutions allows our graduates to proceed to a Chartered Engineer qualification after suitable experience.
