At Sheffield we believe that our Aerospace courses should be at the heart of the industry and we work closely with business partners to ensure that our students have the relevant practical and theoretical knowledge to position them as front-runners in the job market. Our programme was established after consultation with key players in the industry and is regularly updated to reflect changes and needs in aerospace technology. Our partners include organisations such as Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems, Boeing, Airbus UK and Europe, EADS and Qinetiq.

The BEng with a Year in Industry is a four-year course and its structure is the same as our standard three-year BEng course. In addition it offers the opportunity to spend a year, after completion of the second year, working in an aerospace engineering company. This industrial experience will provide you with wide-ranging experiences and opportunities that will put your academic studies into context and improve your skills and employability. You will benefit from experiencing the culture in industry, making contacts, and operating with the responsibility of a graduate engineer, while preparing for subsequent employment.

We provide comprehensive support and guidance to students both prior to and during their industrial placement. Staff will help you to prepare a CV and you will start applying to companies for placements during your third year of academic study.

At the end of the year in industry you will graduate.
