BEng Aerospace Engineering (Private Pilot Instruction)

This exciting degree course is designed for those who want to gain real flying experience which will fulfil part of the requirements for the award of a National or a European Private Pilot´s Licence. You will follow the syllabus for the accredited MEng or BEng Aerospace Engineering throughout, but in year 2 you will also complete a specially designed flying module run in collaboration with Sheffield Aero Club. This includes ground training for flight, five hours flying and some time on our in-house flight simulator.

Individual arrangements may be made with the flying club to continue to a UK or European Private Pilot´s Licence by completing further flying hours.

The award of your degree is not conditional on you achieving a Private Pilot´s Licence. Acceptance of students for pilot instruction is subject to medical and security checks.

There is an additional one-off cost of approximately £1000 for this course. The precise fee will be confirmed prior to your arrival.
