The Alumni Fund Calling Team

Photo: Campaign caller

The Alumni Fund Calling Team is made up of current Sheffield students. They are committed and enthusiastic about the Alumni Fund, and the different projects that money is raised for. They are extremely interested and dedicated to finding out as much as they can about the University and the former students that worked hard to graduate from Sheffield.

The callers are the heartbeat of the Alumni Fund, and without them the relationships between the University and our alumni would be lost. For many graduates the telephone campaign will be the only direct link between yourself and the University so please make the most of your opportunity to talk to them.

I chose Sheffield as a place to study because for me it ticked every box; interesting course, a respected department, fantastic resources but perhaps most importantly a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere in both the University and city. Since arriving in Sheffield (I'm now in my third year), I have noticed huge changes, the University is constantly improving; better resources, better accommodation and a better union. However the amount of renovation that's occurred in the city centre has been...

I chose Sheffield mostly because of the open day. I went to many open days at other universities but Sheffield just had the best vibe. Sheffield has a lot of bustle and extra-curricular activities, along with the really good academic reputation. I like how well integrated the University is into the city and the Union is definitely the best I've seen. As I've got to know my subject better I've realised how many well-known lecturers we have too! This year was my second campaign as a caller. I returned to it this year because as well as being surprisingly fun...

I chose Sheffield because I had not heard many, if any, bad reports about the University and the particular course I wanted to study (Philosophy and Biblical Studies). They both received high recommendations from others. I was impressed with the reputation Sheffield had regarding its student community and reports of its union being voted the best students union in England. I just knew that I would have a high class of education and a good quality of life, both socially and academically. I have not been disappointed with my experiences at Sheffield...

I first chose Sheffield because of how perfect the English Literature course was, but very quickly my reasons became far more profound; I fell utterly in love with the city, which is both intimate and diverse, and with the Union, which is the nicest I´ve ever seen in all my visits elsewhere. In my first year, however, I had to take a medical leave of absence and it was only then that I realized how supportive the staff are, and how much everyone will go out of their way to help you out; it may be a huge University, but you´re always made to feel like an individual...
