David Meadows
Development Officer - Legacies and Individual Gifts
Dave has been with the University of Sheffield since 2003 when he first made the journey over the Pennines from Manchester to begin his studies for a business degree. As a student Dave worked in the Development and Alumni Relations Office as a student caller and enjoyed his time speaking with alumni from a host of different backgrounds.
In 2006, he graduated with a BA in Business Studies and started his career as the Alumni Fund Caller Manager. This involved managing a team of students who raised money for the University. In 2009, Dave decided to move into his current post as the Development Officer for Legacies.
For Dave, the most enjoyable element of the job is being able to meet with alumni and friends, and hear all their fantastic anecdotes about their time in Sheffield. It is also a pleasure to be able to support people who would like to help current students and staff with a gift in their Will. Dave holds a Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration, a course ran by the Institute of Legacy Management in partnership with the College of Law.
In his spare time, Dave enjoys running and has recently completed his third marathon. He also enjoys watching Manchester United and Altrincham FC. One of his great passions is teaching on the Learn to Lead youth scheme in the Sheffield Colleges. This aims to provide young people in Sheffield with leadership skills and knowledge that will stay with them throughout their life.
