Gift Clubs
Gift Clubs enable us to thank and recognise donors who have shown particular commitment in their giving. By making a gift, you will be playing a crucial part in shaping the future of the University, and of the next generation of Sheffield students.

The University is delighted to welcome its regular supporters giving small sums on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis into the Silver Arrows Circle. As a regular supporter you will receive a Silver Arrows lapel badge (pictured). The silver arrows are a reference to the city’s metal-working heritage, both in the manufacture of armour-piercing iron arrowheads in the Middle Ages as well as the local silver industry. Since the crossed arrows form part of the official coat of arms of the city of Sheffield, the image symbolises a symbiotic relationship between city and university.
The Sheffield Pioneers honours the generosity of the University’s alumni – those younger than 30 years – who demonstrate extraordinary commitment in supporting the next generation of students when they themselves are recent graduates.
The University recognises leadership donations of £1,000 and above by welcoming donors into the Firth Circle, created in honour of steel magnate, philanthropist and one of the University’s founding fathers, Mark Firth. Supporters will also be recognised by having their name included on our Benefactors´ Board in the 24-hour Information Commons building.
The Vice-Chancellor’s List and th
e Chancellor’s List have been created to recognise generous gifts of £10,000 or more and £50,000 or more respectively, which play a vital part in realising the transformative power of higher education at the University.
The University is honoured to admit its most significant and transformative donors into the Roll of Benefactors, the University of Sheffield’s highest honour for philanthropy. Roll of Benefactors members’ names are inscribed on the exclusive Honour Board at the entrance to the main University building, Firth Court, and members are admitted into the circle through a special ceremony with the Vice-Chancellor.
The University is delighted to celebrate the generosity and foresight of its supporters through the Heritage Circle, which recognises all donors who plan a future gift to the University in their Will. By joining the Heritage Circle, you will ensure a more prosperous and confident future for the University. Your planned gift will underpin Sheffield’s tradition of excellence and commitment to future generations of students and staff in the years to come.
