Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008

Animal and Plant Sciences is now one of the largest departments in the UK devoted to the study of whole organism biology and has an outstanding reputation for both teaching and research, being ranked 7th in the world for environment and ecology.

Along with its two sister biology departments, the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and the Department of Biomedical Science, the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences was ranked 3rd in the UK for Biological Sciences in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

This denotes outstanding quality of research in the area of Biological Sciences and shows excellence across teaching in all of Biology at Sheffield.
