Subjects/methods: Geoarchaeology

Research in geoarchaeology explores and builds on the connections between archaeology and the earth sciences, and at the University of Sheffield this research is fostered through an active collaboration between staff of the Departments of Archaeology and Geography. Core themes within geoarchaeology include The formation processes that lead to the creation of archaeological layers, the evolution and human modifications of the natural landscape and the use of analytical and remote sensing methods to capture information about sediments and past landscapes.
