Subjects/methods: Social Archaeology & Archaeology of Identity

This broad research theme includes a range of interdisciplinary approaches to understanding social structures and cultural processes in past populations. Studies of social identity include the construction of gender and age distinctions, the emergence of social stratification and class, the role of text and image in constructing and controlling social action, and the appropriate of material culture in the establishment of political power.
