As an archaeology student at the University of Sheffield you'll take control of your own learning.

We'll ground you in the basics that all archaeologists need. However, our courses are designed to let you follow your special interests and develop your own areas of expertise. You can choose to study archaeology on its own (single honours) or along with a second subject (dual honours).

 

Entry requirements

  • Overseas and mature students welcome
  • General Studies accepted
  • A-Level Latin, Greek or Classical Civilisation not necessary
  • Part-time course available

Inclusive fees

The annual fee for your course includes a number of items in addition to your tuition - if an item or activity is classed as a compulsory element for your course, it will be included in your tuition fee.

This means that the Department will pay for your

  • Compulsory field trips
  • Lab equipment
  • Excavation kit

New curriculum

Our new curriculum spans the traditional divide between scientific and humanities-based approaches to archaeology. The course will engage you in research-led teaching, and address employability and career development. You will draw on the wealth of expertise within the department, developing expertise specific to archaeology as well as a host of transferable skills.
