Our School is a vibrant international community: over 30% of our students and nearly 40% of our staff are International. The internationality of the School is reflected across all aspects of our work, from the way we learn and teach, to the diversity of our research portfolio and the way we engage with the city and the world beyond.

In response to the needs of an increasingly global employment market and diversifying landscape of international practice, we have developed a curriculum that is international in its outlook; culturally aware, sensitive, appropriate and ethically grounded, supported by a diverse and comprehensive international teaching network.

We have strong connections with other Schools, organisations and actors around the world and actively promote cultural exchanges within the department, across the University and with our partner institutions. As well as raising cultural awareness, our teaching collaborations enable students and staff to participate in international exchanges through collaborative work or placement.

We are particularly dedicated to supporting incoming international students, as well as home students seeking international experience. We focus on developing the cultural agility of all our students, and actively seek to create further opportunities to expand our students’ awareness of the international context of research, study and practice.

Our International teaching network includes Erasmus partnerships with a wide range of universities in the EU as well as additional partnerships with Universities further afield, such as the Harbin Institute of Technology in China. Additional formal programmes such as the University-wide Study Abroad programme are supported by diverse informal teaching collaborations that enrich the experience of studying through the facilitation of field trips, case studies and research collaborations.
