M.S.Arch(Hons), BArch(Hons), BSc

I received a First Class Honours Bachelor of Architecture Degree from University College Dublin. I gained my M.S. Architecture (post-professional) (Hons) degree in Advanced Architectural Design as a Fulbright Scholar at the Pratt Institute’s School of Architecture in Brooklyn, New York. I have worked as project architect with internationally renowned firms in both the US and Europe on numerous award winning projects. While in Dublin I worked for Grafton Architects and ODOS Architects; in New York I worked for Bernstein and Associates, Architects. My professional international experience as both project architect and team member involves working in all phases of design and construction in high-end residential projects, education, healthcare, landscape regeneration as well as creation and presentation of international exhibits. I have taught architecture at Dublin City University as part of the Irish Centre for Talented Youth programme. My own work has been awarded and exhibited internationally. I currently run my own design practice, NKDesign, which works primarily as a research think-tank exploring the use of media and digital tools in the design process.

Teaching Activities

I am a Design Tutor in 1st year undergraduate school.

Research Interests

My areas of interest involve the use of interdisciplinary tools in architectural design, including media and digital tools. I explore parametric design and biomimetic architectural design in my work.
