'All the First to Opens the Womb is Mine': The Concept of Firstborn Privileges and Redemption in The Bible and in Comparative Ancient and Modern Cultures - Human sacrifice was a superior form of worship in most of the ancient religions.The first born of the family, usually the firstborn male, was considered the choicest sacrifice.Many ancient cultures also attribute special rights and privileges to the first born male. This thesis explores the similarities and differences between representations of the firstborn and sacrifice in Ancient Hindu and Ancient Near East texts.
