MA Biblical Studies distance learning
Why study Biblical Studies?
The course is ideal if you're seeking to widen and deepen your knowledge of the Bible, or if your future plans include research, teaching, ministry, or you wish to build on a life-long biblical interest.
How the course works
This part-time course is studied online, allowing you to study at a time and place that is convenient for you. You do not need to live in Sheffield or attend classes.
You'll be part of an online community of students, engaging with both the biblical and contemporary worlds, and exploring where the two differ, intersect, and how the modern world is shaped by ancient texts.
Find out about the modules and dissertation.
Via the online learning environment, you'll have access to module information, course notes, set readings, and assessment information.
Teaching and assessment takes place online so you should have good internet access and basic IT skills.
You can start your studies in September or February.
You'll be enrolled onto the MA course. However, if you decide not to complete the full MA, you may be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate if you have successfully completed the required work.
Tuition Fees 2012/13

Resources
The resources for your course will be largely available online, although you'll be expected to buy, or have library access to, three or four books for each module.

As a guide, for the Diploma Project you should show engagement with a minimum of twelve works, and for the Dissertation a minimum of thirty works.
The University is a member of SCONUL, which permits students to borrow resources from other UK libraries.
