Your learning

Your learning and development of research skills will be supported through clearly defined stages of progression over the three years.

• In your first year, you will gain a general understanding of religion as an area of human experience and an overview of the Old and New Testaments.
• In your second year, you will gain the critical procedures necessary to understand religion and the reading of the Bible in theology, history, literature and sociology.
• In your third year you will master the critical analysis of the Bible and religion as they relate to major ancient and contemporary issues and undertake individual research.

We use a variety of different teaching methods including:

• interactive lectures
• seminars
• tutorials
• individual study
• group projects
• computer-aided learning.

Each module at Level One involves about 20-30 contact hours and about 170-180 hours of personal study. At Levels Two and Three each module involves at least 20 contact hours and at least 180 hours of personal study.

Your coursework is assessed through a mixture of written assignments, examinations and oral presentations. You'll also complete a self-assessment at the end of each year reflecting on your learning and experiences throughout the year.
