Tuition fees and funding opportunities

Fees cover all University charges for registration, tuition, examination and membership in the Students' Union. They do not include re-examination, accommodation or living expenses.

Home UK and EU students:

  • Full-time, to be confirmed
  • Part-time, to be confirmed

The tuition fees for 2010 entry are not yet confirmed. Based on previous years, you should estimate in the region of £3,500 (£1,750 for part-time).

Overseas students:

  • Full-time, £10,940
  • Part-time, £5,470

Overseas students can work up to 20 hours per week without a work permit during the academic year and can work full time during holidays, but the University does not guarantee employment and does not encourage a heavy work schedule in addition to full-time commitment to academic work. Students should be advised that part-time work will not provide sufficient funds to cover living expenses.

Living costs for Sheffield students are the third lowest in the country.

Funding

Students entering postgraduate study are encouraged to seek funding from private sources when possible. Many countries have guides to scholarships and funding that are kept as standard reference works in local libraries as well as in university libraries.

The University's Student Services web pages offer some advice about potential sources of funding for research students, including a limited number of University scholarships. Visit their advice pages to check eligibility.
