MA course options
Students wishing to undertake MA degrees in the department can choose one of four options:
- Biblical Studies Research
- Bible, Culture and Society
- Bible and Postcolonial Studies
- Archaeology, the Bible and Ancient Cultures (taught in association with the Department of Archaeology)
MA Biblical Studies Research is particularly suited to those who intend to pursue an academic career in the field. Course options focus on developing your research skills, providing excellent preparation for a research degree (MPhil-PhD).
The Bible, Culture and Society, and Bible and Postcolonial Studies programmes may act as preparation for research, but they also cater for those who wish to learn more about new and developing areas of biblical scholarship, without a specific commitment to further study.
MA Archaeology, the Bible and Ancient Cultures is the only course of its type in the UK. It offers a unique opportunity to work with experts in both fields, exploring the interface between the two disciplines and grappling with the questions raised by textual and physical evidence.
