MPhil and PhD research training

All full-time PhD students and full-time MPhil students who enter the Department intending to transfer to the PhD degree must complete a University-mandated Research Training Programme (RTP) during their first two years of residency; joint location students must complete the RTP in their single year of residency.

The programme includes short courses that provide research degree students with transferable analytical, research, and IT skills and competencies that are relevant to their research and to their subsequent careers.

Credit-based training

Students work with their supervisor to identify suitable courses and earn the required 45 credits. This will normally include the department's own research training module, which has a value of 30 credits.

Upon acceptance to the full-time or joint-location graduate study programmes in Biblical Studies, you will be sent a guide to the RTP entitled, 'Research Training at the University' by the Graduate Research Office. It contains full details about the requirements.
