What our postgraduate students say...
- Rafael Rodriguez (USA)
Rafael enjoys the academic stimulation in the Biblical Studies Department at Sheffield:
"My wife and I decided to come to the UK from the United States for postgraduate studies in order to experience the challenges and opportunities of pursuing an education in a new environment.
We chose this department because it's one of the most exciting places in the UK to do biblical research; it is only a few hours away from other valuable resources (libraries, manuscripts, etc.) available throughout the UK, and the faculty and other postgraduates here have a broad range of perspectives, research interests, spiritual backgrounds and methodological specialties.
In addition, I have had the opportunity to do some undergraduate tutoring, and experience that provides challenges above and beyond those typical of pursuing a research qualification. Thus far it has been very rewarding to be doing full-time research her in the Department."
- Minna Shkul (Finland)
Minna has returned to the Department for a PhD after having worked for some years.
"I am proud to be part of the academic community in the Department of Biblical Studies at Sheffield. The excellent reputation of the Department and its scholars attracts fantastic students here from all around the UK and all over the world.
When I came here for a Masters degree some years ago, I was very impressed with the faculty, the expertise of its members and the inspiration they gave, and with the first class supervision offered here.
After some years in employment, I decided to take a career break and do what I wanted most: return to the Department as a PhD student. I want to reach the fullness of my potential and I know that researching in the Department of Biblical Studies at Sheffield will greatly enhance my academic studies and critical abilities. Studying here is very challenging and exciting!"
- Katie Edwards (UK)
Katie has been a postgraduate tutor
"My time as a postgraduate in the department has been the most challenging, exciting and fulfilling period of my life. I have presented papers in several countries, taught undergraduates and enjoyed truly wonderful supervision and guidance in my research. There are few things I could imagine doing that would offer so many experiences with so much support."
