Entry Requirements and Application Procedure

Apply online at UCASAll applications for undergraduate study in the UK, including The University of Sheffield, must be made through an organisation called Universities and Colleges Admissions Service or UCAS. All applications must be made online through the UCAS website.

Successful applicants are strongly encouraged to attend one of our Open Days, where you will be shown the main University sites, have an opportunity to look around the department, and raise individual queries with members of staff and current students.

Detailed information on how to apply and what happens after your submission can be found on the University's main Prospective Undergraduate's page. See: Applying Essentials

Entry Requirements

BSc: Our current standard entry requirements are grades A, A, B at A-level, two of which must be science based, preferably including Chemistry. If you do not have A level Chemistry we can still consider you if you have AS Chemistry on top of your three A levels (including two sciences). Please note that we do not accept General Studies at A-level. Additional completion of the  Extended Project Qualification in a relevant subject area may also be considered.

MBiomedSci: Our current standard entry requirements are grades A, A, A at A-level, two of which must be science based, preferably including Chemistry. If you do not have A level Chemistry we can still consider you if you have AS Chemistry on top of your three A levels (including two sciences). Please note that we do not accept General Studies at A-level. Additional completion of the Extended Project Qualification in a relevant subject area may also be considered.

No risk and keep your options open: If you hold a firm offer (Sheffield is your first choice) for the MBiomedSci course (AAA in relevant subjects) and you achieve AAB we will automatically offer you a place on the BSc. This is automatic and does not require you to apply for both courses. This means that all offers for the MBiomedSci course have a built-in insurance offer.

We also welcome enquiries from mature applicants and those with non-standard or non-UK qualifications such as the International Baccalaureate.

For further information please see our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Detailed information on the entry qualifications and tariff points of previous students can be found in the Entry Qualifications section of our Key Information Set.
