Our department's top research ranking (ranked in third place in the UK for research in Biological Science in the RAE 2008 - Source: Times Higher) and our reputation for quality teaching (24/24 in the most recent governmental review) attract students and staff from all over the world. The department of Biomedical Science scores very highly in the annual National Student Survey, particularly in the areas of academic structure and teaching. Likewise national, European and world rankings all recognise the University of Sheffield as one of the best in the UK.

How to Apply for a (BSc) Undergraduate degree at Biomedical Science
You can make an application to study our Biomedical Science degree course from anywhere in the world.
All applications for undergraduate study in the UK, including The University of Sheffield, must be made through an organisation called Universities and Colleges Admissions Service or UCAS. All applications must be made online through the UCAS website.
Entry requirements
Our current standard entry requirements are grades A, A, B at A-level, preferably including Chemistry.
We also welcome enquiries from applicants and those with non-standard or non-UK qualifications such as the International Baccalaureate. Please contact our admissions staff if you would like further information and advice.

English Language minimum requirements:
You may be required to take an internationally recognised English language test such as TOEFL or IELTS.
- International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) - Average of 7 or above with at least 6 in each component
- Test of English as a Foreign Language *(TOEFL) - Internet-based test (IBT) overall score 100 with at least 22 in all components.
- USEPT (University of Sheffield English Proficiency Test, graded as equivalent to IELTS) - 6.5 to 7.0 with at least 6 in written component.

If you have a good basic science education, but you do not have the level of English proficiency required you can study English language preparation at our English Language Teaching Centre.
