Work Placement Opportunities at the department of Biomedical Science

Work placements - 16 years and under

Work placements - 16 years and underThe department has a small number of positions for school students looking for a work placement as part of their GCSE studies. An example of a typical placement is working in the aquarium.  The number of these are limited and are awarded on a first come first served basis. Please note that if you are 15 years or under you are not allowed to work in our research laboratories.  If you are 16 years then there may be opportunities for work in research laboratories.  However, this will be examined on a case by case basis.

If you are interested please e-mail Dr Robert Forrester.

Undergraduate students - Summer vacation studentships

Undergraduates - SURESheffield Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Scheme 2012. Each year a number of undergraduate students work in research labs during the summer for eight weeks, carrying out research on a specific project linked to the research interests of the labs.

They learn new techniques and skills and have the chance to talk to a variety of research staff. Students taking part in the scheme are expected to take part in a one day training event, and also present their research at a university wide showcase event.
