Alumni eMentoring Scheme
What is eMentoring?
Our email-based mentoring scheme matches employers to students with the aim of providing them with a positive source of support and encouragement as they begin to plan their careers. The employer’s knowledge and experience can give students valuable insights into the realities of employment and career areas and result in an increased level of understanding, confidence and motivation to begin the transition to employment.
What will an eMentoring role involve?
We are looking for University of Sheffield graduates who would be interested in joining our scheme. Sharing personal experiences of job hunting and providing information about a particular area of occupation and career development with current students is a great way of helping them understand the transition from education to the world of work.
eMentoring is a purely online relationship in which an individual mentor voluntarily gives their time to support and encourage a student. This scheme does not include face-to-face meetings or telephone contact between the parties. Mentors are required to commit to a period of online correspondence of approximately one hour per week for a period of 4 ‐6 weeks.
