Taste of Work
What is ‘Taste of Work’?
Taste of Work provides opportunities for Sheffield-based employers to act as a host organisation to students wishing to obtain work experience in the local community.
Employers offer a minimum of one half day (c3 hrs) each week for approximately 6 weeks during the academic year. The tasks that would be performed by students would be agreed with you in advance and each week you will be provided with a different student who will be matched to your organisation. Certificates are issued to those students who successfully complete their taster.
What are the benefits?
The benefits to being a host are:
- an opportunity to provide personal/professional development to your staff (through supervising / mentoring the students)
- the opportunity to talent spot students who could join your organisation if opportunities arise
- a chance to be involved in enhancing students’ skills and their future employability
- an extra pair of hands for half a day each week at no cost.
Charges
In recognition of the support which is offered to students by participating organisations, there is no charge for taking part in Taste of Work.
