The Sheffield Internship Scheme

Are you an undergraduate student interested in enhancing your employability by taking part in some work experience?
If so, the University of Sheffield, backed by funding from Sheffield City Council, is relaunching the Sheffield Internship Scheme to help you enhance your employability skills. We are offering 50 bursary funded internships with companies and organisations in Sheffield where you will have the opportunity to complete a project based piece of work over 100 hours.
What does the scheme involve?
The scheme, which will see internships commencing over the next few months, will offer you the opportunity to work with a local organisation on a project based internship, earning a bursary of £620. You will have the opportunity to learn new and valuable skills which will in turn enhance your CV for future employment. All internships will take place over 100 hours in total; a maximum of 15 hours per week during term time.
Am I eligible to take part in the scheme?
To be eligible for the scheme you must be a current University of Sheffield undergraduate student. International students wishing to apply must have permission to work in the UK for this period. Internships will be available to students from all degree disciplines in a wide variety of areas and could include Business, IT, Marketing, Project Management, Research and much more.
Where will internships take place?
Organisations participating in the internship scheme include locally based businesses such as SMEs (Small, Medium Enterprises) and charities. All internships will be based within the Sheffield region.
What else is involved in the scheme?
As part of the scheme you will be required to complete a 400 word case study about your internship, detailing your experiences.
Skills for work certificate
You will also be required to enrol on the Skills for Work Certificate, which you will be awarded on completion of the required activities.
Sheffield Graduate Award
Students taking part in this scheme are also eligible to take part in the Sheffield Graduate Award.

All the internships will be advertised under ‘casual/part time work’ opportunities on myVacancies. We currently have a number of new projects awaiting approval and expect to be able to advertise these internships over the next few months.
