I attended school locally then went on to study for an MSc in Natural Sciences at Cambridge University. This was a diverse degree course, taking in aspects of biology and geology before focusing on physics. In September 2011, I joined the Energy Futures Doctoral Training Centre here at Sheffield University in order to explore my interest in sustainable energy. The first year involved lecture courses, visits to power stations, and two-month research projects in various departments. I chose to move into the Energy and Environmental Engineering Group at the end of my first year for the main part of my PhD training. |

Research groupEnergy and Environmental Engineering My researchI study advanced heat storage technologies, with the aim of developing a technology that can help manage waste heat captured from industry or power stations. Storing and distributing this heat to sites of demand will help to conserve fuel, lower heating costs, and reduce carbon emissions. |
