BiographyOriginally from France, I graduated in 1993 with a DUT in Chemical Engineering. I came to the UK the same year to do a BSc in Chemistry at the University of Kingston (upon Thames). After a one year industrial placement with Kobe Steel, working on super-absorbent polymer coating, I completed my BSc in 1996 and then moved to Manchester to do a MSc in Polymer Science and Technology at UMIST. From there, I moved to the University of Sheffield in 1997 to do a PhD on block-copolymers thin films for optical applications under the supervision of Prof. Tony Ryan. After completing a one-year Research Assistant position at the University of Sheffield, I joined Tata Steel (then Corus) in 2002 as Researcher. During my 10 years in industry, I successfully managed numerous research projects leading to the commercialisation of many products and managed cross-functional team spread over different geographic locations. My main achievement amongst many was the management of the R&D aspect of a £1M Single Investment Fund Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) project looking at high speed coating (>250m/min) of steel substrates. |
