Undergraduate courses

Our core course in Chemical Engineering (H800 and H810) is accompanied by options selected from a wide range of available subjects. These reflect the research activities in the Department. As part of the Chemical Engineering degree you can select specialised options is: Energy (H840), Chemistry (H8F1), Biotechnology (H8J7), Nuclear Engineering (H990) and with a Modern Language (H8T9).

The first two years of these degree courses are common so that you have the flexibility to transfer between them.

Foundation Year

A Foundation Year (H801) is available for students who do not have appropriate qualifications in Mathematics or Chemistry.

On successfully completing the Foundation Year you move smoothly into the first year of the undergraduate programme. The Foundation Year is eligible for support from LEAs.

3-year BEng or 4-year MEng programmes

StudentsWe offer 3-year BEng and 4-year MEng degree programmes. As an MEng graduate you fulfil the academic requirements of the Engineering Council to become a Chartered Engineer. You will then need appropriate industrial experience and will become chartered, typically, four years after graduating.

Students graduating with a BEng who wish to become Chartered Engineers will, in addition to industrial experience, need to follow an approved postgraduate qualification at Masters level.
