The Ceramics and Composites Laboratory (CCL) is a major EPSRC supported research group that was officially launched in September 2004 within the Department of Engineering Materials.
Research flexibility and strengths
The group have been awarded an EPSRC Portfolio Partnership award which allows us the flexibility to adapt our research programmes to the latest developments in our own laboratories and elsewhere. Our particular research strengths cover the broad areas of:
- Ceramics
- Glasses
- Polymers
- Polymer Matrix Composites

Industrial relevance
The CCL conducts research across a wide range of industrially relevant materials from electroceramics for battery applications to refractory materials for the steel industry. The group is keen to collaborate and offer consultancy on projects that could enhance business.
