Research activities in the CCL often have a strong industrial focus; however, some research is curiosity driven.

A collaborative approach

CCL projects are frequently collaborative, often involving input from two or more of the CCL's lead or associate academics. The large number of collaborations within the CCL is in keeping with the spirit of Portfolio Partnerships.

Research themes

CCL research can be divided into the five themes:

  • Electroceramics
  • Composites
  • Functional polymers
  • Glasses
  • Ceramic science
