Application Advice

Choosing the degree programme and University that’s right for you is a really important decision. There are a few things that you can do before making your application through UCAS to make sure that you are making the right choice.

Important Dates
June-September Open Days Shortlist several University Open Days. You can book online to see the Chemistry Department, your future accommodation, and the facilities available to you at the University of Sheffield.
June MTU logo If you cannot attend one of our University Open Days, visit us at the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Meet the Universities Event, where you can talk to staff from our Chemistry Department.
September-January UCAS Image Finalise your choices of University and complete and submit your UCAS form. Check the UCAS course search for more details and deadlines.
November-March Formal Interview

Once we receive your UCAS form, we’ll send you an acknowledgment and carefully review your application, which may take a few weeks. We will invite applicants who meet our criteria to one of our visit days. During your visit you will receive more details about the course to which you’ve applied. You will also have an interview and be able to discuss your application with our staff. If you are eligible you can also apply to us via UCAS Extra during the period February-July.

Early May Decision taken UCAS requires you to make firm and insurance choices for any courses for which you applied. The deadline for any UCAS Extra courses is later.
Mid August Exam results As soon as the A-level results are published, we will review the results from all applicants and contact you with our decision.
