The University of Sheffield
Department of Chemistry

Undergraduate courses

Image: student in labWe offer a wide range of chemistry degrees that include options to study abroad, in industry, or in combination with either biology or physics. The modular structure of our degrees means that it is normally possible to transfer between our different degree programmes during the first two years of study.

You will be taught by experienced, world-class staff through interactive lectures, seminars, laboratory classes, and workshops. Weekly small group tutorials will be provided throughout the early years of study. Laboratory teaching takes place in modern, well equipped laboratories that allow every individual student to gain vital practical experience, supported by our dedicated team of laboratory demonstrators and university teachers.

Accreditation

All our degrees are accredited or recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Our degrees meet the requirements for provision of practical chemistry skills and benchmarks of academic quality set out by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

Resource pack

All new first year students receive a learning and laboratory resource pack.
