Biography

I started out in adult life as a Modern Languages graduate with an interest in Latin American politics. After a brief period as a life-skills teacher, I switched to computer programming.

I've been at the University since 1985, starting off as a programmer in the Data Processing Unit, and progressing through the ranks to become Chief Programmer in MAC Services. After the merger of MAC Services, Corporate Information, and Academic Computing Services, I became head of Technical Services, Head of Application Delivery, and most recently Head of Technical Services, and Assistant Director i/c Technical Services. Setting up the Process Improvement Unit gives me the opportunity to focus on practical ways to help the University to become more efficient and effective in the way that it runs the organisation.
