Remote Access
Remote access passwords are generally used for two purposes:
- Accessing some University computing services from off campus via VPN.
- Dialling up to the network using a telephone line.
The remote access password used to be used to connect to the eduroam wireless network, but following changes in September 2010 this is no longer the case.
- New people registered after September 2010 will automatically use the campus network password to connect to the wireless network.
- People registered before then will continue to use their remote access password, until they synchronised their passwords at which point they will need to use their usual campus network password.
The majority of staff and students will already have a remote access password. If you do not have your remote access password you can have a new one sent by email. Visit the Computer User Account Management system available via the right hand link.
If the Computer User Account Management system reports that you have no remote access password, email the UCards and Registration team.
