Server Virtualisation

Virtualisation refers to the setting up of one physical computer to behave as if it were multiple independent (virtual) computers.

We used to have 130 small physical servers but we now have 4 large servers configured as 130 virtual servers.

This has reduced our 5 year energy costs from £567,047 to £130,478. It is also much cheaper to keep 4 servers cool than it is for 130.
