Connecting Amazon Kindles to Wireless (including eduroam)
The Kindle Touch can connect to eduroam very easily, however, for older Kindles it is difficult but not impossible to connect to the eduroam used at all UK Universities.
This web page outlines how to connect all Kindles to eduroam and other wireless networks.

Connecting the Kindle Touch to Eduroam
Kindle Keyboard 3G
The Kindle Keyboard 3G can connect and download books using the 3G mobile network. You can connect and download books anywhere on campus and anywhere you can get a mobile phone signal.
Kindle
The standard Kindle can connect to many wifi networks but is not easy to connect to the high security eduroam wireless network used at Universities. However, staff and students can download books to their Kindles using the instructions below.
Staff
University staff with a standard Kindle can easily connect and download books using the guest wireless network at the University. Instructions on using the guest network are available via the link below.
Students
Students cannot connect to the guest wireless network. Instead you should use a University (or your own) computer to download books from the Amazon store and then connect your Kindle to the computer to copy the book across.
- Register your Kindle with your Amazon account
- Using a computer log into Amazon
- Search Amazon for the book you wish to download
- In the 'Deliver to' menu on the right, select 'Transfer via computer'
- On the next screen, select your Kindle in the menu and click 'Continue'
- Your book will download onto your computer; open the 'Downloads' folder
- Connect your Kindle to the computer using the USB cable
- Your Kindle will be displayed as a removable storage device
- Double click the Kindle volume, then open the 'Documents' folder
- Drag the book from the 'Downloads' folder into the Kindle's 'Documents' folder
