Creating a banner for MOLE

In MOLE you can personalise your site by creating a course banner.

The below tool makes it easy to create your own banner in the right size for MOLE. These are based on 16cm x 4cm (approx 600 x 150 pixels)

1) Make a copy of this presentation

Start by making your own copy of this presentation which will allow you to have an editable copy. To do this go to File > Make a copy.

2) Deciding on a banner type

Once you have made a copy, you will be able to edit the document. You can edit one of the existing templates (slides 4-18) or use one of the blank templates on either slide 2 or 3.

Slide 1 is a template to create a banner with a full background image (examples slides 3-11).

Slide 2 is a template to create a banner which has images within the banner (examples slides 12-17).

Option 1 - Creating a slide with a full image background

Navigate to slide 1.

Amend the text to the details of your MOLE site.
Change the text size, font and colour if you wish. Try to use good contrasting colours to ensure readability.

To change the image, click the image behind the text which says “replace image”. A menu item will now appear to replace image.

Upload your own image. Ensure your image meets copyright, copyright images can be found at https://pixabay.com

Double click the image to move the focus of what part of the picture appears in the banner frame.

Option 2 - Create a banner with image(s) within the banner

Navigate to slide 2.

Amend the text to the details of your MOLE site.

Change the text size, font and colour if you wish. Try to use good contrasting colours to ensure readability.

Add any images you need. Go to insert > Image....

3) Saving your banner

Navigate to the banner you want to save.

Go to File > Download as > PNG (.png current slide)

This will download to your default download folder as an image file.

You can now add this to MOLE following these steps.
