CiCS' Measures to Tackle Online Fraud
With online fraudsters becoming more sophisticated, CiCS is taking a broad range of measures to combat the threat.
- When a phishing message is reported to us via phishing@sheffield.ac.uk, we block the email address so that University members are unable to reply to the message.
- We add a warning to messages that may be online fraud using detection methods that are continually being updated.
- Messages that are known to be online fraud are rejected. We currently reject more than 95% of all emails addressed to University accounts.
- We will never ask for your password in an unsolicited fashion.
If you are in any doubt about the legitimacy of an email message you receive that requests personal information then do not respond.
- To report a suspected phishing attempt forward a copy of the email to phishing@sheffield.ac.uk
