Macintosh VPN Client (OS 10.3)
Computers using Mac OS 10.3 have the VPN client 'built-in' and you don't need to install any software - simply configure the built-in software with our VPN service settings.
- Open the Macintosh Hard Disk
- Open the Application Folder
- Open the Internet Connect icon
The following summary page will open

- From the File menu, select new VPN connection.
This opens the VPN Connection window as shown in the picture below.

- From the box that appears, select PPTP not L2TP over IPSEC - click Continue
- In the window that appears, enter the following information
Configuration: . . . . VPN Connection
Server Address: . . . vpn.shef.ac.uk
Account Name: . . . Remote Access Username
Authentication: . . . Remote Access Password
The window will look like:

- Click OK, this will now enter the information into the VPN connection window. Make sure Show VPN status in the menu bar is checked.
- Save the configuration settings, connect to your ISP and then connect to VPN by clicking on the padlock icon in the top right hand side of the screen.

- Select Connect. You are now connected to VPN.
