Macintosh VPN Client (OS 10.5)
Computers using Mac OS 10.5 have the VPN client 'built-in' and you don't need to install any software - simply configure the built-in software with our VPN service settings.
- Open System Preferences
- Double Click on Network
- Click on the + sign in the bottom left, this will present you with the following screen:

- In the window that appears, enter the following information
Interface: . . . . VPN
VPN Type: . . . . .PPTP
Service Name: . . .University - Click the Create button
- In the window that appears, enter the following information:
Server Address: . . . . vpn.shef.ac.uk
Account Name: . . . . .Your university username, for example cs1cjw
Tick the box marked "Show VPN status in menu bar"

- Click the Advanced button.
- Tick the box marked "Send all traffic over VPN connection"

- Click OK
- You should now be able to connect. You will be prompted for a password, this is your remote access password.
