How to get wireless at your place of work
All new buildings and major refurbishments to existing buildings have wireless installed as a matter of course. Sometimes faculties request that wireless is installed in an entire building. The rest of the time individuals can request that wireless is installed in their place of work by the following process.
- Contact the CiCS Voice and Data team to discuss your requirements and check that a wireless network is viable at your location

Any installation, including the cable routes through the building, is subject to an asbestos survey and there can be lengthy delays and even a complete bar on installations, depending on the building fabric.
If you decide to continue you should commission a survey as follows:
- Raise a uBASE order for £1065 to vendor 9022
- Complete the survey request form below
Wireless survey request form
The price of £1065 includes one new data point, one wireless access point and installation. Following the survey we will discuss the results with you and inform you if any additional wireless access points and data points are needed to provide the desired coverage. If extra kit is needed, we will inform you of the likely extra costs and you can then decide if you wish to go ahead or not.
- If you decide to proceed we will agree an installation date
- If you decide not to proceed the original order will be relinquished
