High performance technology-rich flexible learning and teaching spaces
The CILASS spaces have been designed specifically to support collaborative, student-led inquiry in arts and social sciences disciplines. They also provide excellent facilities for staff development activity relating to inquiry-based learning (IBL).
CILASS aims to provide teaching spaces containing high performance technology that creates centres to inspire innovative inquiry-led teaching. Well designed spaces offering multimedia technology can help make good teaching better and support the enhancement of the learning experience.
CILASS aims to encourage student collaboration, the individual modelling of teaching spaces and provide opportunities to capture ideas through inquiry.

'How to' & 'Why to' video project
The CILASS IT/AV Advisor and Student Ambassador Network (SAN) Technology group are currently working on a video project to produce a number of short 'how to' and 'why to' training videos. These videos will provide prospective users with basic knowledge of how to and why to use the CILASS teaching spaces and technologies. Also, we hope that these videos will encourage current users to explore ways in which to integrate technology in their inquiry-based learning (IBL) and to use the teaching spaces to their full potential.
We are pleased to announce that we have finished producing all the 'How to' videos. We are about to start working on the final 'Why to' video and expect to have this finished and uploaded by the end of March 2010.
The videos have been added to the CILASS Additional Equipment web page along with new user guides.
The CILASS IT/AV Adivsor has interviewed a number of academic staff whom use the CILASS teaching spaces.
The aim of these video interviews is to provide prospective and current users of CILASS teaching spaces, with examples on how Academic staff are using the teaching spaces and technologies, in particular, the impact of using the teaching spaces and technologies on their inquiry-based learning.
The video interviews are now ready and can be accessed here
