My role is to provide technical support for the day to day running of CILASS teaching spaces and technologies. I train new users and encourage current users to explore how they can use the spaces and technologies to their full potential and enhance the learning and teaching experience. My aim as IT/AV Advisor is to increase the use of the CILASS teaching spaces and technologies. For example; the use of additional equipment, the use of CILASS access grid node, and minimising technical problems.

In short... to unlock technologies for inquiry-based learning.

I am also responsible for the loans and returns of equipment and for making sure the CILASS teaching spaces web pages are easy to use, inspiring and up-to-date.

I am currently on secondment from CiCS where I was working as an IT Centre Technician, providing customer based technical support. I am still regularly working with CiCS to provide IT technical support to the university and help academics to use technology in their teaching to enhance the learning experience.

Prior to working at the University of Sheffield I worked for Laban (Europe´s leading dance conservatoire) in London as IT/AV Advisor. My role was quite similar in providing technical support to staff and students, training in the use of portable equipment, and managing the equipment loans and returns. Before working at Laban I graduated as a student with a BA (Hons.) in Dance Theatre.

Since 2004 I have also been working as a freelance filmmaker and lighting designer, working with a number of artists, and presenting my work both nationally and internationally.
